Front Foglights. Wiring. was created by wanderinstar
I have standard fog lights fitted to my Jim. In order to fit front towing eyes I removed the centre portion of the front bumper, which will eventually go back. While this panel was off I tried to operate the lights and they wouldn't work.
Where do the fog lights earth? As I suspect I have disconnected the earth lead for the fog lights. But I cant find and loose wires hanging down.

The fog lights have connector blocks located next to the headlights, one on either side. I never saw an earth lead when i had my bumper off to fit the winch, i just disconnected the fogs then reattached them when i was done.

Hmm.
There are 2 wires to each fog light 1 power in and 1 earth out, so as they are mounted in a plastic bumper there must be an earth point somewhere.
But where??

Anybody know where i can get hold of a wiring diag. As there isn't one on the CD I have.

I could be wrong, but when I was looking into hooking up my fogs I seem to remember that the live was permanent and the earth was switched.

Trouble is the fog lights worked before I took of the front panel. So I am assuming that there must be an earth that I have disconnected.

The secondhand lamps I bought each had a short wiring loom coming off of them ending in a connector plug. I cut them short to wire them up in the good old fashioned way using a relay, but yours should have just plugged straight back in. I would be inclined to unplug them again and check the car side of the connector with a multimeter to see if 12V is getting through.

But that's it. I didn't unplug anything. Just undid the screws hoding the middle bumper panel in place. That's all.

Still haven't got my fog lights working. When I operate the switch the warning light comes on in the switch. I can;t understand this as I thought that with the odd system on the Jimny that the power goes from fuse to lamp to switch to earth. If that is the case then how come my warning light comes on but not the fog lights???

so lets start at the begining so you have to wires on the back of the light unplug the bulb so you either have a live and no earth or an earth and no live with dip beam on but fogs off
then switch the fogs on you should have a live and earth so what do you have?
