That’s a nice Jimny sized lane and great video too, very entertaining.

Sunday gone wasn't too nice, so I had the day off... and sat and plotted the next couple of trips...

I started by dropping points on the places I wanted to visit / drive -

Covering a chunk of the map SW of Denbigh on the OS 116 map -

So that gave me -

A Wednesday Wander...

And a full Sunday...

But :( It's overcast this morning and threatening rain this afternoon, and Sunday doesn't look great as yet either...

So they are plotted, I'm just waiting for some better weather... in August?! Who's idea was it to build a buggy?

Back in the garage then? ;)

Mixed feelings today :( The Jimny Jauntz group were out greenlaning today locally to me, but for reasons I won't go into I'm no longer in the group, so I woke up a little grumpy at the thought of them having a fun day out around me somewhere, but the weather didn't look too good on the forecasts, so I decided to have a day maintaining the Boogie...

Starting with a clean! For some reasons it was full of the remnants of undergrowth?!

Everywhere!

It was the handbrake I was trying to get to!

I grabbed the spare handbrake lever I have in the garage for the next buggy project, and found the right socket to go on the adjuster...

This is a Halfords Professional "Torq" Kit (I have a bigger set too. tool magpie! ;) ) these are designed to allow the bolt / threaded bar to run up the shank of the socket set, so it never tops out in the socket, and can actually go right through the handle... so ideal for the handbrake adjuster...

Adjusted up, it had always been a little loose, but had got worse, probably as things bedded in after the Boogie has been used a bit...

Next job... the passenger side soft-top roof bracket had disintigrated!

Driver's side for comparison...

Ahh, yes, that's proper buggered!

Best make a new one then? 42mm hole centres...

I struggled to get the pivot pin off, so ended up cutting the ends off and trying to drill it out, 6mm drill then...

But it wouldn't come out :(

It started raining heavily, so I took the whole soft-top hoop off. covered the buggy, and moved inside the garage...

Felt vindicated at this point that it wouldn't have been much fun greenlaning with the other lads of the group or on my own, with a buggy with only half-doors and no back... Who's idea was it to (finally) build a buggy? And I thought it was supposed to be "summer", August isn't it?! LOL

I still couldn't get the pivot pin out :(

So I got a matching piece of tube out of the metal bin in the corner, and drilled it 6.5mm for a new pivot hole...

And then cut the end off the original soft-top hoop, and the end off my new piece of tube so that the length matched the original... I tried to find a piece of bar to go inside to strengthen the join, but eventually cut the head off a 10mm bolt as that was the right diameter... there's a photo of it later...

Then some box section was also pulled out of the metal bin...

Drill a few holes in it...

Draw some lines and then follow them with a slitting disk in the angle grinder...

And then shape into a new end foot with the replacement end of the soft-top hoop bolted in it too... There's the cut off bolt inside for strengthening

Test Fit B)

AH?! We're "only" allowed twenty photos on a post?!

Ummm, ok... Fast Forward...

Weld it up, grind it back, paint...

And refit! Job done! B)

I'll refit the fabric roof when the paint dries...
