Crankshaft Pully

Hi all
Just had the crankshaft pully fall off my 2004 jimny mode.
Looks like the rubber has worn between the parts and then it seporated.
I have bodged it back together by drilling and screwing the 2 halfs together (got me home)

The question is can I weld the two pieces together or is there a need to have the rubber interface ?

Just trying to save the £145 for a new one.

The 2 piece pulley forms part of a vibration damper. If you can weld it so it runs true, likely you won't notice any difference, or you could find an increase in noise and vibration at a particular speed.

I suppose something could break due to the extra vibration, eg the crankshaft or a mounting for the alternator or simillar

Is the £145 from the "Main Stealers"?
Personally I'd try to get a replacement from a breaker, wouldn't consider welding.

Replaced one on my cousins P66POD a couple of months ago and I think it was around £125 from suzuki.
I'd avoid a second hand one as you might be buying the same problem.
His is a 2001 with 70,000 miles so you must be unlucky for a 2004 to fail so early.
