If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I wouldn't.
Stick the 90 in the axles.
The rangerover used ATF in the transfer box and that was a hyvo chain & epicyclic unit like the jimny.
THe 90 I have is miles less runny than 75/90
