Engages 4wd on it's own
Have you checked your mounts are OK? I have the part numbers for them somewhere if not and have some stashed away I think if you find one or two have had it.
They are about £15.00 each from Suzuki if I remember right.

Just had a look at 2nd hand transfer boxes and couldn't believe how cheap they are  but hopefully it will just be the mounts

I've just been driving around in some snow so I thought that I would test it out in 4wd.
It went into 4wd fine and worked perfectly also in 4wd low. When I went back into 2wd (lever moved, light went out) I could feel it hadn't changed back to 2wd. This was confirmed when it went back into 4wd on its own. Eventually it did go back into 2wd but not until about a mile later.
What might cause this?

beardy, don't bin the transfer box yet!! Mine does exactly the same as you describe here, it's all to do with good old transmission wind up which has been a feature of all part time 4X4 systems since time immemorial. I know exactly what you mean when you said "I could feel it hadn't changed back to 2wd" The good thing is it won't happen every time, it depends on the traction under each wheel and the ammount of lock etc.
I know it's a pain but the only way to solve it is stop, select 2wd then reverse back a little so 4wd can disengage. In your first post had you previously been in 4wd then selected 2wd before it engaged 4wd by its self when you changed down? If so it's the same problem and ther's nothing wrong with your Jimny, if not then there still might be.
