To clutch or not to clutch.

Just days before the warranty expired, and with just 11,000 miles on the clock, clutch judder developed. I arranged for the dealer to investigate and he confirmed judder. He then told me that normal wear and tear was not covered, so I could be saddled with a bill for £1,700 - flywheel plus clutch plus labour - unless inspection proved a fault in the clutch. Now I wont bore you with the details but I took the motor away to have a think and the following morning the clutch was perfect. In fact it was better than "perfect" because I could now engage drive - first gear, high range - on the flat at little more than tick-over within about 1.5 meters. Over the last few days it has stayed "perfect" with easy changes and no judder.
Now my thoughts are that the release bearing was partially jamming on the "nose2 that surrounds the gearbox input shaft, probably a piece of metal or dirt that suddenly decided to be polished away or removed by movement of the release bearing.
Any other thoughts?

Roger
