Back in 2019 I went to the trouble of de-rusting my swivels and painting, hopefully to keep the kingpin bearings working longer. So how did it do?
Well one side has lasted 3 years and 10 months, covering just over 32,124 miles.
The patch of coating I used had detached from the swivel surface 6 months earlier, it looks like I simply failed to prepare the surface well enough and it had not adhered fully, the rest of the coating was still fine, in fact it's required sanding off with 60 grit to reapply.
The lower kingpin bearing had started to fail, although it was capable of passing an MOT and only became apparent when the brake caliper was removed.
So did the kingpin last longer and was it worth the effort?
Difficult to say if 32000 miles is above average, I would have liked it to get over 4 years so just failed to do this. That said the other side, which was completed at the same time, is fine and the coating is still good. So was it a consequence of the coating failing or was it just going to happen anyway?
The other side still fine after 32K miles.
For me it's worth it, I simply don't like the look of rusty swivels and he seal won't last or even stand a chance of working on rough surface.
Talking of swivel seals Suzuki appear to have changed the part. They have added a "felt" seal as a pre wipe before the rubber and made the outer ring totally split. You can see this in the photo below, old on the left, new on the right.
Has anyone fitted this new type and do you need to pre soak the felt like wiper with anything?
Not a daft question when you have owned a Landover as many of the felt/leather seals require a pre soak in oil.
Closer look at improved seal for G3 or now G4 part?

The new swivel seal is the Gen4 seal, they have standardised across the range and it is now quoted as the replacement for the Gen3 seal
There is no oil or grease on the felt according to the manual
The grease is a bead of grease shown as "A" in the diagram

Thanks Martin. The grease is pre-applied to the part.
