I think it looks ok if it was for my mum or the wife but what have they done to it, Thats never going to be an off roader. Why didn't hey just tweak the Jimny with a more powerful engine a better transfer box some armour and stronger arms etc. That would saved Suzuki millions.

I must admit the model all of us have has been one of the longest car models i have seen run still selling well. Did anyone pay attention to the comment by the motor show saying "The jimny has always been the 4WD of choice for those who cant afford any better". :pinch: made me wanna smash! lol

lol

Its a nice looking motor... but not very rugged looking. Buts its the way all cars are going

Look at the new Defender shape.

I think the "4x4" look is becoming more trendy, The Juke and the Evoque are both similar in ways.

Whats the betting the XA-Alpha is available in 2wd?

Jimny has always been available in 2wd and is still sold in large numbers in Asia in 2wd as well as 4wd.

The Jimny 2013 being made here in Brazil is exactly the same as the 2012. They are going to offer a soft top version as well and a basic model for farmers (no air con, power steering, etc) with vinyl seats i guess. There are also a Sport version that come with about 2" lift, 215/75/15 mud, snorkel and smaller bumpers and arches (did post a picture few days ago).

When the Jimny come to be, replacing the Samurai in 1998, it was also a bit strange, We used to look at old 4wd with more rectangular lines. But if you think, the Defenders look like the same for decades. If you think that you want to dislocate a big metal box trhough the atmosphere it is reasonable to make more aerodynamic round shapes. The Defender is about to change either. I think 2015.

However, this new Jimny looks too Barbie IMHO. I'll stick with my old one no doubt!

chhers,

Thiago

I thought we already discussed this model in a previous topic with better facts than a random blog on the interwebs :P It's not "the next Jimny", but a compact SUV concept called XA-Alpha by Suzuki/Maruti (India's version of Suzuki). There you go, more pictures: www.caradvice.com.au/153651/maruti-suzuk...ews-new-compact-suv/

And yes, it resembles remarcably to Range Rover's new Evoque. Why oh why didn't they build the X-HEAD concept in 5 years, I don't know  www.autoblog.com/2007/09/28/tokyo-2007-preview-suzuki-x-head/
