I have a 3" lift, from jimnybits, and some ORA front arms, Rob Storr Panhads and steering rod etc. someone mentioned that a 3" lift kit isnt enough for 31's ? I run 750/16's which are near enough 32", jimnys are tippy enough without jacking them up to 4.5". Each to their own, obviously if you want it to look like a monster truck then get the highest you can, personally I think 2" lift is enough and cut the arches out a bit, and cut a chunk out of the bodymount under the front headlights , keeps C of G as low as possible, my tyres dont rub anywhere.

Just my opinion for what its worth, but Ive had a few jimnys over the last 7 years.

If you have the right off-set to make up for the lift, there is no reason why your Jimny will be unstable. If fact a well set-up Jimny with a 4.5" lift and good off-set will actually feel more stable than stock.

With a 4.5" lift and say 31" tyres I would recommend 8J rims or 7J with 30mm spacers.

Hi Rob,

A little offtopic but im getting youre 3"lift installed next week, i was just wondering does it need 32mm wheelspacers? for better handling? and do i need to raise my brake balancer?

Thank you!

Stefan

when you lift the jimny you raise the centre of gravity making it more prone to tipping over on a sudden evasive manouver - fitting spacers increases the track of the vehicle and helps to offset the higher centre of gravity
yes you should also raise the brake balancer to keep the brake balance consistant
