You've probably guesed that I've been spending the day weighing up wheel and tyre options for my Jimny :laugh: Anyway, as per the title, would 16" Grand Vitara steel wheels fit straight onto the Jimny with no modifications? I'm sure Martin had refurbed a set, but I don't remember if they were ever fitted to a Jimny...
But they won't go on a standard truck will they? They physically fit straight on but i thought you needed a lift as a minimum for them to have enough room.
I've seen a set for sale fitted with 215/65/16 tyres - that's hardly any bigger rolling circumference than the standard Jimny size 205/70/15 and virtually the same as the 205/75/15 that some guys are running on standard Jimnys. My only concern is if the offset of the wheel will be OK.
There are 2 types which look similar. You want the wider ones. The thinner ones catch on the track rod ends without spacers. So you may aswell get the right ones to start with.
The idea behind them is to go to 205/80/16 tyres as they are bigger and easier to get. This is a standard LR size but we have smaller diffs so gain ground clearance over them.
I'm replying on my phone and don't have time to get onto the Pc as I'm working long hours at the moment, so if anyone else can post pictures of the two types it would be useful to you I guess.

They are the narrow ones with less offset, you want the other style, those are from a GV1600, the GV2000 petrol and derv and GV2500 V6 has larger calipers so a bigger off-set the larger GV standard size is 235/60/16, and the GV1600 came with 215/??/16.

They come up on eBay every now and then as sets of 4 or 5, some good, some bad some ugly.
There are always breakers trying to pedal single wheels for £35 each but you don't have to pay that much.
I have bought a couple of sets in the past for £60 for 4 but nowdays I think you can expect to pay up to £100 for 4 or 5 as they are hard to get hold of in good condition.
They are not the B all and end all in Suzuki wheels though -they collect mud alot and have small drain holes between the inside and outside of the centre where it meets the rim which clog and hold mud in them, putting them out of balance where other wheels would have thrown it off.
Also, my 215/80/15 Maltesta Kaimans measure up the same height as a set of 205/80/16 Insa Turbo Special Tracks, so you can get to that size of tyres without changing your wheels.
There are bigger than 205/80/16's that people have fitted to the GV wheels though and that is where the benefits really start to come into their own with these wheels. Of course they require big lifts, alot of body cutting and a rocklobster and will effect your on road speed.
Think hard before you shell out too much on them if you only intend them to be wearing 205/80/16's as a nice set of new modulars can be only £120 ish!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationKirk - I already have a set of 16" GV Rims on my ickle Jimny with a set of 205/75/16 Diamond Backs.
But rims are a bit bashed now, and wanted to know if you knew where i might get some more ??
I'm more than like putting on new tyres soon and getting these fitted - inner arches will need changing somewhat ... but they give me an extra inch in height!

Where you getting good 16" GV Rims from?
As Kirkynut says you can find them on eBay. I found a set on there, also the same set listed on gumtree. They looked in good nick (as you can see from the picture I posted), but if I'm going to have to sort out a set of spacers to get them to fit they're no longer such a cheap option.

Yeah, I've seen those on eBay - they're about as 'dinted' as mine are!!
16" rims and 16" tyres dfinittely help the raising of the Jimny .. I already have arches and flare cut back - i suspect the new 16/750's will rub on the inner/lower arch (where foot-well is) ... so its either the BFH and/or some slitting/cutting with Mr. A. Grinder and weld-up the seams afterwards!
I have 'borrowed' a 16/750 Tyre of a mate who is doing the same, and his spare wheel. My objective is to see how much i need to BFH/cut back ... before i go out and buy 5 for myself!!
