B) Many Jimny's are modified and knowing how insurance companies seek to avoid paying out where do we stand.

I know many Jimny's are trailered to events, but many are used on the road. My understanding is that the insurance company must be told of ANY and ALL changes / modifications from standard. If we don't inform them, for example rock sliders, they must be told or the insurance is null and void.

1.Has anyone had problems getting insured, having been truthful and told the Insurance company of any modifications?
2. What is the general attitude to modified Jimny's?
3. Which mod's incur the greatest problems.

Any other comments please.

regards Tony

I'm with Adrian Flux mods declared. I tried a lot of the ads in the back of a landy mag.

Its fully comp and i'm covered while off road most importantly.

After reading it on here too i told them i was a member on here and got extra discount.

I've never had any trouble getting insurance on modified vehicles, there will always be somebody prepared to cover you regardless how extreme the mods but there will of course be a price to pay as a result.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

Try the NFU - National Farmers Union - they don't mind what you do and show little interest in modifications.

frank pickles has stopped insuring modified cars since july 2011. adrian flux was the best quote i got 700, im female and 23. that was with all mods winch, snorkle, spacers, lift kit, mud tyres etc. limited mileage will bring the quote down if you dont use it every day. i looked through 4x4 mags and rang loads and adrian flux was the cheapest but they were the only ones who would insure under 25 on modified 4x4. hope you find a cheap one.

Thats quite funny, when I rang them up last year they wouldn't insure me because it wasn't modified enough! go figure..

As people have said Adrian Flux. About £300 cheaper than directline, thats with me being 21, mods and off road cover.
