My new Jimny convertable was created by Wee Mary
Hi there....joined the forum as I have just bought a Y reg jimny convertable and have some questions about her.
The Jimny has just been fully serviced however it still seems very slow and sounds like its an aircooled beetle. Is this normal????
My mechanic has checked her thouroughly and has said shes mechanically sound but its a very bumpy ride - Is this normal?????
At around 40-50 mph there seems to be a bit of vibration through the steering but the tyres are ok so i think it may be the balancing, any ideas????
And last but not least - The Convertable hood is a bit tatty does anyone know the best place to get a new good quality one, i wondered if theyre was a particuarly good stores out there.
Many thanks - wee mary

HI and welcome Wee Mary
very slow aircooled beetle   normal on mine when starting up (I quite like it) but should diminish quite quickly.
what tyres do you have on ?
can you post a pic so we can see if it's standard ?
someone I'm sure will soon point you towards a new hood.

Hello and welcome
for a new soft top try monsoon 4x4
there are many discussions on here about steering vibration for you to read - some times called "death wobble"

I personally prefer to think of the 70kph wobble as "an undocumented feature", an idiosyncrasy that lends character to a unique vehicle ... or perhaps Suzuki's own special way of shaking the mud off without having to drive over a cattle grid.

The fact that it sounds like an air cooled beetle and is "slow" could be a sign that the Catalytic Converter is getting old and is partially blocked.
In general, they are a bumpy ride. I would guess with a Y reg some of the bushes will have worn, dried out or frozen which will not help.
If the wobble is only slight then I would leave it alone for now as it is easy to make it worse!.
