Yesterday I picked up another project (bike) and seller had a Jimny. 52 reg auto - and he paid £400 off a work mate B) Now modified slightly for trails use but at least it allowed me to have a good look and confirm 100% suitable for me. Chap said thirsty for engine size and moaned about road tax band - other than that he reckoned far better than the numerous other 4x4's he's owned in the past.

Neighbour buys CAT C & D write offs for own and familly / friends use. He says most older vehicles get broken straight away rather than sold as repairable as worth more in parts than whole. This could explain another reason why older Jimny's "in need of attention" are scarce.
I need to sell my ' 72 Range Rover, buyer collect the '56 Austin A35 I've sold as well as clear out two lock-up's of spares etc before I dare have another "toy" so I've plenty of time to keep on searching as it's not as if one will be an everyday vehicle - just a parts hauler / fun days / dog carrier etc toy :)
