Hi nicho,
No they do not take hire cost's into consideration.
You are entitled to a replacement like for like vehicle when yours is in for repair, just make sure you mitigate your lsoses (Keep them to a minimum) IE give the car back when told, and make sure you have a like for like vehicle and youll be fine.

the other persons insurer is providing the hire car so they will pay the hire car bills until the car is written off (if it is)
They will tell you when they are stopping paying for the hire car so let them have it back at that time, and then make your own arrangements until you find a replacement car to buy (ie drive your jimny etc)
if the car is repaired then obviously you should have the hire car until yours is returned to you

The hire car is often for a limited period only, 3 or 4 days. They will quite happily let the hire car run on and on but will then bill you at the end for the extra days.

Old bloke ran into mine last Xmas, 22nd, and due to the Xmas & New Year break, I had the hire car for just over two weeks, fully paid for by his insurance, Saga.
Suppose it depends on how good the company is?
Just my two penneth.

Yeah it is a bit rediculess, but they are classed as two different parts of the claim, and you are fully entitled to a replacement like for like vehicle for the period your own is in for repair, ths most I have paid our on hire along was for a prestige vehicle and total hire cost was nearly 14K!
