Depending on the damage i would just settle it through the insurance company

She is just trying to protect her no claims bonus!

Its her fault so your claim bonus will be intact

Your no claims will be intact but that isn't the end of it- your insurance co will log it as not your fault but if you are a named driver on other peoples cars they also need to know- apparently if you get a lot of "no fault" bumps it indicates that you are travelling in dense traffic or more risky roads.
A bloke on his phone in his company car rear ended my Xtrail while sitting at traffic lights one morning a while back- new bumper all paid for by his insurance but when my son was negotiating his latest insurance they were very interested in "the incident" - I explained all of the above and even checked with myown firm, but they say it has to be reported for 3 years or policy could be invalid!! Innocent until proven guilty or what?
