Leads don't last forever, I've recently changed mine due to leakage. It can be quite hard to spot but you can get testers for them.

I had a lead go before, turned out rats had been nesting in the engine bay! Luckily it was just the leads.

It's been a while since the jim had some love. So this weekend she has had a few new parts. Unfortunately as soon as you replace worn items you find even more.

New Brembo pads and discs went on, two new aux belts after spotting the old ones were cracking. Re greased the caliper sliders as they are known to seize.

Track rod ends one was slightly leaking grease but had no play so replaced them and the faint wobble at 50 has gone its true they may not seem worn but can be.

Replaced the propshaft with a known non leaking one I noticed since replacing the oil seal last time it hasn't used much oil. Hopefully now it won't leak any.

Fitted a small in car thermometer from China just what I've been after for a while. I like to know if it's below 5 degrees Celsius to drive even more cautiously in case of ice.

All in time for Cornwall

Oil change done today, got the filter and sump plug from the bigjimny store. Some other jobs that need doing;

- new caliper seals for o/s caliper
- non a/c belt to bypass the a/c pump
- gearbox oil change
transfer box oil change
- front tyres
- underseal
- wheel spacers

thats all the fluids changed for this year. I might try some 30mm cnc alluminium wheel spacers next

It's been an expensive time for my jimny but I have finally got the gearbox rebuilt and the noise has gone in 3rd and fourth. One of the bearings was completely anhilated. Ill be having words with the ebay supplier of the rebuild kit as I was supplied the wrong oil seals and it leaked gear oil and had to be stripped again. At the same time the gearbox was done I had a new clutch kit fitted.

Also,as one job is done another emerges, my jimmy has now got the intermittent power loss issue and I need to look at the cat or camshaft sensors.

To make me feel a bit better I won on ebay a used Suzuki dog guard with load liner. Ill post some pics once I have collected it.

In spite of the severe pain you'll currently be feeling in the wallet pocket, Jim, I imagine you feel pretty great at having got it sorted ;)

I recently won an identical dog guard from a Forum member in Holland, and someone pointed out that one you have soon after...good win, I'm delighted with mine, fits like a glove :)

Gus :)

I'm planning to live forever.....so far, so good !!

Today in the sun I tackled a job that I have been meaning to get around to. I took off the spare wheel and holder for repainting and cleaned up the mess behind it on the tailgate. When I removed the wheel I saw rust on the tailgate but thankfully this was from the wheel holder and with some elbow grease it eventually came off.

I have used Granville rust converter instead of the Kurust that I have used before, apparently this stuff is used on oil rigs and it leaves a tough finish. I will also be spraying it in satin black.

At the same time I'll give the rear wiper arm a coat of paint as that has faded to an almost white colour.

New tyres have been ordered for the front, I went with my usual all terrain tyre with wet grip B rating.

Galactic Jimny passed its MOT with flying colours, no advisories.
