Had a look at the drive/aux belts and they are looking a bit dried out and old. So ordered two from the bigjimny store. It was a headache finding the correct belts so I gave Martin my reg and he posts out the right ones.

Today I changed the spark plugs. I was surprised to see ngk irridium were fitted and I recall they don't usually last as long. I had to get a longer spark plug socket from Halfords, the correct vvt plugs from the the bigjimny shop and some copper grease for the plug threads.

After 6 flushes I cleared out all of the old blue/green coolant until clear water was coming out and a final flush with de-ionised water. Then filled back up with some 5 year ethylene-glycol OAT.

When I bought the jimny I was relieved that the amount of grip it had was good after reading so many negatives about roundabouts and wet roads. I hadn't a clue about tyres but understood everyone's needs differ, I required grip on wet roads with weekly trips around a flat grassy field where cattle graze.

The tyres were:

Nexen Roadian AT 205/70/R15C 104/102T 6PR M+S

I was searching for more replacement A/T for the rear but noticed the wet grip ratings were e,d,f. I wanted better grip for a rear wheel drive car without traction control. So I looked up what I already had and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had wet grip rating of B, I also learnt what the codes mean and they were mud and snow and 6pr meant 6ply walls rather than 4 ply and the date was 2012.

What was even better was that they were delivered from Tyre Leader in Germany within 4 days for only £50 each. I was reluctant to order from them but I checked the tyre dates in case they were old stock but they are stamped 2015.

Iridiums are the recommended plug.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

I thought irridium plugs were better suited to big bhp cars and those that run on high octane fuel.

They are just a more efficient plug, the narrower tip means that you get the spark at a lower voltage which gives a more intense spark. You should get good life from them, most OEMs are fitting them now to engines with long service intervals.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

A few jobs to do over the weekend. New auxillary belts and track road ends. After I had the tracking checked I noticed the driverside track rod end was leaking grease.

I noticed a bit of a lip on the discs so will change them and the pads.

Changed the H/T leads after finding the short one broken when changing spark plugs. Not sure if it's placebo but i noticed it was smoother to drive in crawling traffic and less hesitant.

With the dash cam running I needed another 12v for the Sat nav so I secured this one under the dash.

The faded wiper arms make any car look a lot older than it actually is so off they came for a sanding and spraying in satin black. Fitted them with some bosch aero flat blades. 18" driver and 16" passenger.
