Engine Fail - Recondition or replace with second hand?!

Hi,

I have a 2001 Automatic Suzuki Jimny, but unfortunately it broke down last week! Engine cut out - loss of water somewhere but this has resulted (I think) in damage to the engine - hence the cut out.

It is a well looked after vehicle so I would like to keep it (done 70,000 miles) but I am undecided as to which route to take - get the engine reconditioned, buy a different reconditioned engine or just a second hand one that has not been tampered with?

Anyone got any advice/experience of this? - both on what my next move should be, and also where the water leak could have come from in the first place? It was checked just 2hours before the incident happened - radiator and expansion tank were nicely full.

Thanks

Toni

Since the radiator and expansion tank were checked previously; the source could be a bad radiator hose, water pump, or even a blown radiator. If you have taken the vehicle to a reputable shop; they should be able to diagnose the source of the leak. Just wait to see what they find before jumping to conclusions.
