Just seen an advert for a CarDoc at under £40 that links to a phone via App. Anyone had any experience of these or any others they can recommend.

I bought a cheap chinese clone reader (as most of them are at that price) off ebay. It works in that I regularly turn off an engine light on my WagonR, and I have just diagnosed a blocked cat on my Jimny by reading a pending code. Better than nothing but only works for the engine, not transmission abs or airbag. Mine was only £11 by the way.

I have a draper code reader with the wired display. For 25 quid and reading engine codes I am happy enough with it. I also have access to a friend with a snap off reader that allegedly is all singing and dancing, which for what I understand it cost it ought to be. The whole sector is a mine field of limited ability, cloned, over priced or actually quite good units where purchase price is no guarantee of getting a decent product.
