Hi all, I know there are have been a few threads on this in the past, but I'm trying to get as much additional info as possible...

I by mistake bought a set of flood driving lights (don't ask!) and was going to sell them. But I'm now thinking that I'll install them along with an as yet to be bought set of spots. I want to install the floods now, and then the spots at a later date.

I'd like there to be a number of options as far as using the lights goes:

1) Low beam, using only car's stock lights.

2) Low beam, with stock lights and floods

3) High beam, using stock lights, spots and floods

How difficult is this to wire in? I'm a novice regarding auto electrics, never done it at all before, although am proficient with the mechanical side of things. Would this be something do-able by a novice, or should I get the bank card out and get an auto-electrician out to do it?

If it's do-able by me, would I run two separate relays, or everything on one? Going by what I've read, a single relay might be overloaded by all this (4x 100W bulbs by the end of it), so am thinking two relays, but then what the hell would I know...

Having lighting come on with the factory lights requires the units to be e marked and I'm fairly certain that 100w bulbs are not available to use on a Jimny because of the cutoff dates in the legislation. Having them on a separate switch for off road use only is fine. Assuming that the units are road legal then the wiring is essentially a simple logic circuit and there's loads of diagrams on Google showing how to do it. Just bear in mind that the Jimny is negative switched unlike almost any other modern car and that needs to be accounted for when taking relay signal feeds. Its all quite straightforward.

Ok thanks.

Let's say for arguments sake that I'm using 50W ;)

Anyone got any wiring diagrams for the switching setup I mentioned in the first post (I'd imagine it would be a variation on the small handful of Jimny-specific wiring diagrams I've managed to fine so far)? Also, what would the switch layout be for this setup?
