snorkel n diff breathers was created by little boghopper
hey all, sorry if this is in the wrong place but was just wondering about my snorkel and diff breathers, i have a snorkel and fuel hose to attach
to the axles and boxes (hopefully!), the reason for this is yorkshire/cumbria floods and getting through rivers at work occasionally. however someone has told me this is pointless as when the alternator gets wet or any electrics under the bonnet she will die anyway being a petrol??
i,m not wanting to cross the swale in flood , just perhaps the wings tops max for a few seconds , is this too much? any ideas or help
would be much appreciated , before a snorkel , 80mm hole cutter , pipe and fittings go on ebay!!
cheers LIam.

No worries. Water don't damage the alternator or other electric parts. Mud do. So just fit that snorkel and do some wading :)

Done correctly for a few metres it's not going to be too much of a problem with water being up to the top of the headlights. If however you loose the bow wave for whatever reason, you can expect problems . Personally I hate water crossings of any depth above the bottom of the rims, not for any mechanical reason, I just don't like it.

For the axle breathers get 1/8 bsp pneumatic 6mm push connectors and 1/8 bsp taper tap
This way you can be sure the pipe will stay attached
As the hose may pop off

Martin sells diff breathers in the Bigjimny shop.

They're the best solution.
