So tell your insurance you have fitted a modified handbrake, I don't see the issue? It's no different to declaring any other mods.

Just tell em yes....sorted as they can only check whether you are insured.......I haven't declared my fandango rear view mirror yet.....I'm pure evil!mickt wrote: It is not up to them to find it. It is up to you to tell them! If you are pulled by the Police on a vehicle spot check for instance then you will probably be asked if the non standard kit has been declared to your insurer and if not then you are considered uninsured!!

I've worked with guys that could keep warm through winter with paperwork saying they know everything about motors that could'nt come up with as neat a solution!Johnniehec wrote: No I'm just a part time mechanic with non professional tools so won't be going into production!
It was still under development when MOT'd I had the brackets fitted but just one lever so no problems.

Adding individual rear wheel brake levers is a common DIY thing being done on Lada Nivas in Russia and the Balkans.
So you might search on those solutions and adapt to Jimnys.
However, I think that Nivas have no ABS, and I am not certain if ABS is a very important consideration for such a project.
Old Fiat Pandas 4x4 are also sometimes modified to have individual rear wheel handbrakes.
