greasing wheel bearings

is it poss to grease front wheel bearings just by taking the locknut off ie:- witrhout dismantling the whole hub. they r a bit noisy so wanna get something in there. cheers

Baz,

You can do it but it only gives you very limited access. By removing the hub nut (see www.bits4vits.co.uk for the tool) you can access the front of the bearing as shown below (you can just see the bearing hidden below the pin I am using to drive it out.



However the bearing is around 5cm (2 inches) in depth (its at least a double ball race) and if you look in the picture below which is taken from behind you can see the second race. Therefore pushing grease in the front to lubricate the back is not going to be easy

thanks m8 ill try and get a bit ov greas in thear might make em last a few more weeks then ill change. them laneing on the weekend havent got the cash yet to buy new 1s no play in them but make a bit ov noise at 30mph then thay go quite so hope thay last 140 miles on sunday lol. doing some changes to the jimny so ill have to try and send u some picks last time i tryed it didnt work lol
