Hi,
my g13bb engine broke down on me last week! 2001 auto jimny.
has anyone got any recommendations as to what to replace it with? I'm unsure as to whether to recondition my own, buy a second hand, or even replace with a different model engine?? I want my jimny to have a long life so if anyone has any advice it'd be much appreciated!
thanks

If you are happy with how it went before it died then the same again is the easiest to do.
Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

Yea I'd prefer to keep to what I know - I've had the vehicle for almost 5yrs, 2yrs ago the head cracked - damage caused by water leaking from elsewhere.
But, the head has now gone again - another water leak I presume. And whilst this could be damage caused from another issue - I am unsure as to where water can be leaking from, since everything has been in working order and no water has been leaking from other parts under the bonnet.
Any ideas anyone?
I was driving the car back on a long distance journey - about 150miles into the journey, the temp gage suddenly began to rise, the internal heaters started blowing cold air instead of hot, acceleration started to decline, then the engine cut out and started steaming. I had to rock the car with my body, to the side of the road and wait for recovery. We have yet to take the engine apart but we're pretty sure the head is damaged, if not more! But what we're unsure of, is what caused this?! We've done water pressure tests and water is only leaking from the gasket area and underneath the cam belt area - again could just be from the gasket.
Can't work out what caused this originally though?!
Thanks

My head gasket went, skimmed the head and then replaced the gasket, a few weeks later it went again.
Mine started giving cold air before it went again.
Might be worth looking for a replacement G13bb lump, they are easy to swap out, I did mine over a couple evenings with basic tools and only cost £150!
