I agree about that especially when people ask for help and are advised to just fork out a wad when usually it is something simple although that damage he has found looks expensive.

When I needed to fix mine i needed a new solenoid which are dealer only at 120 quid at the time or the more versatile manual hubs at 125 quid or a second hand solenoid of indeterminate provenance and durability. The manual hubs for me were the most straightforward and expediate solution.

Simple systems are more reliable and should be considered as a last resort.

More complex system (factory equip.) usually fail due to improper usage and/or extreme use.

I saw that some other 4x4 brands have a mixed system (manual and automatic) that could be a good solution for a Jimny as standard factory equipment.
