I've been looking for one of these for years. A proper helical Limited Slip Diff that is made for the Jimny! They are sold in Oz, sometimes under the TRE brand, but I can't find a UK distributor. An opportunity for Martin or Dave perhaps? I'm sure they would be popular.

Hi Gents,

Bear in mind this product comes (?) directly from China...and their English is more broken than mine.. I don't think it will be easy to find a reliable UK firm who risks making bussiness with unknown remote people. I've sent them a private quote request and asked a few questions via email using their website a couple of months ago but never got any reply.
I think they only make deals with large bussiness partners who order thousands of their products. I'm affraid UK is too small for them.

Regards,

Gabor

Thing is that they now exist, no matter how hard it is to get hold of one, they can be found. Hope springs eternal.

Considering the best chance we currently have of getting one is ordering from Australia, which is obviously further away, much more remote and with an extra middle man to contend with I'd say it's not such a tall order to go direct. Companies are trading with China every day. The UK market is also significantly bigger than Australia's.

I'd certainly be in the market for one (or a pair).

What prices are they going for in Oz?

Might be worth ringing Quaife, They already make a helical slipper for the swift. Not to sure how much difference there is between the diff
centres but it might be worth a go.

It's been fettled just a tad.

I've already got a front LSD ? ;)

Ah, you mean for Martin or I to resell them? Too much investment in stock for me, sorry...

I did speak to quaife a while back and they are happy to make one but they want a diff for a while for research then they will make like 10 or so for resale per batch but they are not cheap. I will look for the email and post here.

We’re always open to new development projects, so if there is a market for a diff for the Jimny, please do send us in a standard open diff for inspection.

We can then quote you to manufacture a batch of diffs, which would then be your exclusive product to sell.

There wouldn’t be any obligation to place an order if we quote though, but as far as we’re aware, there isn’t a demand for a diff for the Jimny that would make it worth our while developing it on our own.

If you have any further questions or I can be of any assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Ben Ashton

Was the long and short of it after they at first suggested there wasn't much demand?

I am unfortunately not in a position to fund this on my own nor do I have the infrastructure to hold stock. I am fairly sure that I sent a pm to the likes of Redacted and others about it but I could have just as easily sent it to myself.

So what there saying is, if there becomes a demand they may produce one. So get calling people.
