Hello guys .
I'm a new owner of 2003 JImny and I tried and I tried to engage in 4x4 LO from 4x4 HI but no success . I read about how to safe switch from one mode to another . car it's stopped , clutch depressed . wheels aligned.. 2x4 hi to 4x4 hi works spot on . any advise would be great . I have uploaded one video as well .

Thanks a million

Im not totally sure how the engagement works, but you do have to use a fair bit of brute force to engage..
Yours looks like its just not moving the hidden parts enough to fully engage, so would guess there is something wrong with the linkage?
Someone will be along eventually who does know what they are talking about and point you in the right direction :)

Thank you . I don't mind to force it as long as it's working like changing gear and not with vacum help like from 2x4 hi to 4x4 hi.

All that I know is that when shifting from 4WD-H to 4WD-L and vice versa in a lever-operated 4WD transmission system in a Jimny, the process is entirely mechanical.
So it's just you, the lever and the mechanisms in the transfer box. No electrics or special magic is involved in the actual shifting. So you need to examine these three things.

I hope that someone else can be of more help.

Judging by the gaiter you've got a body lift fitted and the lever is now fouling the body. You need to get it off and bend it so it clears.

hello again Busta . I fixed the problem with lever . I drive it a bit and works spot on . now my question is .. if I have the body lift fitted , will this affect engine rear mount ( gearbox mount )? .. as it's gone and my gearbox lever wobbles . Thanks again

A 2" body lift meant my gearstick was hitting on the bottom of the gaiter. i cut a bit out of the plastic surround, but eventually bent that lever to suit a bit better (and had it snap off in my hand one day from the poor welding  )

Mine is a 2007 shell so a bit different (not to mention the other stuff), but you need to replace the rear mount thats gone and see what its like first.

The engine and gearbox are mounted to the chassis so no, the body lift won't affect the gearbox mount. They often go. Just one of those things.

Hello again . I fixed the 4x4 leaver and I have replaced the gearbox mount as it was very weared . I have another issue now wich is my gears are very stiff. Not noisy , just very stiff . Any advice? Can it be from 2" body lift ? THANKS

Correct. The body lift means either the shifter stick needs bent to suit, or a bit cut out of the bodywork to allow low box to be selected.

Thank for the quick reply but I already fixed the problem with the 4x4 selector for 4H and 4L . I have issues with the gears leaver 1- to 5 they are very stiff to engage
