Ours is an 11 with the vvt and buttons and yes it is a little bit too highly geared in 2wd first but only for crawling around sheep. In low it is fine and has more than enough power to pull away even with a trailer at full weight. Over all I would say it is about spot on its only when we make it do something its not really designed to do that it complains.

They aren't quite so straight forward when it comes to working on them... But no serious issues

I prefer the manual box as its one less thing to rely on working

04 and 54 are the last manual shift... 05s got the new dash along with the push button transfer

My 05 plate has a manual shift and older dash, thought the facelift was on a 55 plate?

May have been old stock from Febuary that didn't get registered until March

Gilburton,
Thank you for pointing out the limitation to use 4WD only on very slippery or uneven surfaces. I already knew that though.
I personally prefer a lever quite a lot over a pushbutton, simply because the lever is a much more "manly" device, and it suits a vehicle's off-road image much better than some push buttons or (God forbid) touch screens.
However, that personal preference must be put aside when it comes to more important differences between those two Jimny editions, and that is why I am asking about gearing and drive ratios.

11/60,
So are you saying that in 2WD and 4WD-H mode, the electronic Jimny is evidently highly geared, but in 4WD-L mode it is significantly low-geared to perform any demanding uphill crawling or downhill descent? That would mean that it has better fuel economy (and top speed) in normal cruising (2WD), but still does the crawling job in 4WD-L? So, in your opinion, the gear rating of electronic Jimny is not inferior in any way to the gear rating of old manual Jimny?

I would definitely appreciate if some other people would also give their opinions and comments. Especially on the technical questions about gear and drive ratio differences.

Hi I have an 05 push button. It goes into 2 & 4 but not 4 low. It lights and buzzes but doesn't stay on. Any ideas. Cheers.

Are you stationary, in neutral with the clutch held in?

Diagnosis chart suggests that you are not holding the clutch down for the entire process (if the system is ok)
