That raises a good point because permanent all wheel drive strikes me as being more useful (on road) in countries that don't get snow (much, usually lol) but do get lots of rain..............England.........but then maybe FWD is adequate for that. As one who does not go mudplugging I consider rear wheel drive to be more tricky.

For general driving tyre choice is far more important than which axle provides the drive in terms of how the car behaves.

By that what I mean is that with worn out or just cheap rubbish tyres if you are trying so hard that it slides you are off in a ditch regardless of sliding in forwards or backwards.

My daughter has the new AllGrip Ignis and loves it, when it snowed she had no problems.
The youtube link explains how the 4x4 system works.
The Ignis doesn't have a lock mode, sport or snow. Just a button for off road.

That off road button your referring to is it the bottom left one in the centre console thought that lock all four wheels up to 13 mph then goes back to automatic again.
