Good day,

I managed to get my hands on two m18a import motors, and while busy cleaning them up I noticed that their tappet covers were slightly different, this lead to me finding that the two heads had different part numbers.

The one was:
  • S-1
  • Other
  • S-2

See images attached.

I would like to know if anyone knows what the difference is? I can't seem to find anything on the net?

Interesting find there! Where are they imported from?

My M18 has the S2 mark and is VVT (has a bulge on the front of the LHS rocker cover around the timing chain). I have no idea what the S2 mark means though.

Thanks for your responses, yes they are both vvt versions.

I have asked some people here in SA who has done the conversion and theirs say S-1.

I am assuming then that it's just a newer version of motor? No power or performance increases?
