Note that wet asphalt surface usually is not nearly enough slippery for a part time 4WD transmission to release its wind up tension.
This is a common misconception and people usually break their part time 4WD transmissions on wet roads (info which I got from a few specialized 4WD repair garages).

Also, many well packed gravel / rocky roads (no loose rocks, gravel or dirt on them) are not slippery enough even if they are very rough.

A good strategy when passing through hairpin bends on such roads in 4WD is to take the bend in two goes, like when driving a big truck which can't steer through the bend in one go. This releases some of the tension.
