I don’t recall any issues on the rebuild. Looks like I will have to strip it down again. At least it should all come to bits easy.

You think its all gone back together nice and that little oil seal has managed to get unseated somehow inside there.
I re-used the seal and just fitted it again in exactly the same way, problem solved. Annoying isnt the word.

It’s 100% annoying.
With regards this oil seal, I just want to make sure I get this thing write next weekend. The recess where the oils seal sits is deeper than the seal is thick. I pushed the seal so it was flush with the main surface. This left a small gap I could see behind the seal, should I have pushed the seal further in so the back of the seal was butted up to the step in the diameter change. Any advice offered is greatly appreciated before I take it all to bits again.

If it were you would you reinstall with shims or put the new bearings in without them?
I do have some replacement shims to replace the one that is destroyed.
