Droning noise and ticking? was created by Jimnay
Hi all, don't know if I am being too paranoid but I do listen out more for strange noises when I acquire a new (to me) vehicle.
One noise I notice is a drone for about 2 seconds when I first pull off in first gear after travelling about 10 foot, I don't hear it again until I next start the engine.
The other noise is a slight ticking (for lack of better word) noise which seems to be pretty constant all the time on acceleration.
Both noises are heard in 2wd mode, haven't really used it in 4wd yet.

Drone is ABS system doing its thing as you hit a certain speed, mine does this, also asked the same question.
Ticking on acceleration could just be yours, although mine has a slight tick that I can hear as the revs climb just above tick over, then its gone. Could be anything, but I am sure its nothing to be concerned about for both of us. The Jimny is a breathtaking collection of rattles and rev related vibrations, just enjoy the symphony

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)
