I fell into the dealer trap on those last time round, not again. I do however have a spare I can build up onc3 the new bearing lands, minimum of down time, planned maintenance, etc.

Ah, which bearing is that, the main pulley bearing? Any idea of the bearing markings (sizing), I wouldn't mind replacing mine, it's driving me nuts and probably costing me MPG I'm guessing that the pulley bolt is a nightmare to take off as well.

Thanks, Generally, if I need anything Jimny I try to get from Martin. Question for you though, when you removed the tensioner, did you find that the bearing felt rough or smooth at all? Because, when I removed my tensioner last time during a belt change, I didn't feel any roughness or play of the bearing itself, which is why I put it right back without doing anything. Just curious as to what you found yourself.

Ah, thanks. Sounds like my one could be worth replacing then. Really didn't feel like a worn bearing, but it's not much cost to replace really. I'll give that a go.

Just for information, I did my tensioner bearing today.
I took a pic of the tensioner unit disassembled. Pressed the outer ring off first, then pressed the centre part out. The centre part holds back a metal ring (pictured), which isn't attached to the centre part. I used a bearing press to push off the outer ring, but for the centre part, I just put a big brass drift in a vice and smacked the centre out, holding the tensioner like I was cracking an egg as I did and it came out easily with a good few swift, stern smacks.

So, can someone tell me which aftermarket bearing model / designation (like the ones from SKF, Koyo, Timken, NSK, etc.) is fully compatible? Is there some special attribute which I need to pay attention to (like some special lips, sealing, or something)?
Also, should any pulleys be replaced while replacing the driving belts? What about the water pump (when should it be replaced)?
