Time to build a beach buggy perhaps?

That would be really cool. In your situation I would be tempted to get another motor and use the present one for spares or as a donor. :(

Thank you again to all responding.

It looks like repairing in the near future will not be a goer :( - hopefully I can find somewhere to keep him sorn'd 'til I can sort something out. I think he's committed rustaside due to the time and money I've spent on my old E30 beemer......

Been having a quick look on ebay to see what car body would be roughly the right size to bolt on to Jimny's chassis! Beetle Baja body? Old style mini? 2CV? An old Austin 1300 ;) Would I still be allowed to go to BigJimny meets though?

I always wanted to do this to a Vitara I had once. I thought there was an SJ kit by them too but cannot find it.

The SJ one for example.

Jago jeep fibre glass body with usually a wooden floor is a good fit and has been done. Bodies are cheap as some mk2 escort
owners are stripping the cars for their Ford running gear.

Jago body based on Willys jeep so classic lines, Rickman a bit dated now although some of them used the metal escort doors.
