Front hub problem was created by darthloachie
I have just had the hub bearing replaced on the nearside front and my mechanic tells me that when he took off the manual locker 3 of the six pins were sheared off. :pinch:
Is the part where the sheared off bolts are in a separate part or is it the hub casting and where can I get one from?

How long do the front hub bearings last before replacing as it took the mechanic a while to find one and it cost £68.
It was found to be worn when the brake caliper disintegrated and chucked fliud every where - drove home 11 miles from a pay and play day with no brakes - deep joy :S

There is also a clunk when pulling away from rest and again when stoping - any idea what this is - havent noticed it in 4wd

Do you mean the freewheeling front hub, and that youve sheared 3 of the 6 bolts off? I seem to keep doing that but i shear all 6 off at the same time lol. Get a set of stud extractors from ebay, drill a pilot hole and insert the smallest stud extractor. Done mine 3 times now.

Thats a good idea - never thought of that

What size extractor do you use?
3mm or 4mm or smaller

I'm not sure, just the smallest in my 5 pack of extractors.
