What workshop manuals do any of you use?

Martin - I see you have mentioned in the past about trouble codes and how to read them by grounding a terminal with another on the diagnosis switch terminal, however, my service manual tells me how to read them but does not really give me a list of which ones are which.

I have an occasional problem with the engine management light coming on when I have been driving at speed for some time and plan to leave the light on the next time it comes on, rather than clear it by undoing the battery, but I'll need to know how to read the code.

It may be that I can gain access to a Snap On code reader but I'd like to be able to read them myself.

How easy is it to read the codes from that Maxitrip gadget you bought Martin? How do you know what it's codes mean compared to the vehicle's fault codes and then what they mean? For £95.00 inc Vat + P+P it seems really reasonable!

I use the full workshop manual, it has all the codes in it.

Here is the MaxiTrip displaying a fault code.....

this then cross maps to the manual pages.....
