aye great little bit of kit a CB !
go to birtly CB services (google them) for about £65 quid you can get nice little TTI unit 40ch with ariel etc. as yours is a tin top you could just go for the magnetic pad and stick ariel on roof when in use like taxis do

I've mounted CB under ciggy tray. remove ciggy tray and throw it at next doors cat. bend / cut a bit metal to make a bracket that slides into fag tray and secure to that, pics of mine
dead easy to wire up

hope this helps :)

Dont worry bout bracket mate, thats spot on.

With an aerial for the roof, would you just diconnect the wire to aerial when not in use as i wouldnt want it lying around lol. may change to a fixed on like yours later as id prefer to wire it in permanant and hidden wires etc.

I was going to go to birtley CB mate as you said but a friend said he had a Midland one he'd never used, 100 channel? says it was around 100 quid when he bought it and i can get it off him pretty cheap so see what its like! If no good i'll head to birtley.

thanks again gaz.

Thanks Martin,

I used ali, because I had it lol, but as long as you shape it to the headlining should be fine, if you take the light off you,ll see theres two screws, and a big hole in the lamp base.
I just made the hole in the metal about the same size and drilled two hols to suit the two in the lamp base. I found two bolts the same thread and cut them down so they did'nt hit the roof.

It's been up there for a few years with no probs, powered straight from the batt with inline fuse, in the bulkhead via the gromit, then up the side of the winscreen pillar hidden behind the trim. I use a mag mount twig and have been happy with it .

hope that helps

Andy

At the risk of showing my age, do you still need a licence for a CB?

On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

No you don't.

Great place to mount one as well, in the 'roof space'.
That's where mine's going to go.

Yeh it is a nice idea, thanks again!

Got a CB now so just need to get a bracket sorted to mount it, came with a mag mount and home power supply which i'll not use.

Will be wiring straight to car not via cig lighter plug i think.

Its a midland 80 channel

I use one of these

Usable inside or outside the truck, esp good when winching, usually run from a 12v ciggy power supply cos it takes 10 pencell batteries!! No screw holes or bracketry.
Range is OK in an off road convoy............all I need.....

Cost a fiver off ebygumbay
