New owner checkin in! was created by goatboy
Hi all!
Another Newb thread. Just picked up my standard black Jimny soft top last night!
Bit of an impulse buy (although I've been looking for a while) so I'm not sure how much work I'm going to need to do on it! Oh well its all good fun.
Hoping to try some pay and play sites in the near future and see how much I like the 4x4 scene B)

First job is to replace the rather tired tyres. Currently is running a right mixture of tyres on the standard(?) Oz wheels (205/70/r/15) and I was thinking of changing these out for the Kumho KL78 195/80/15 after seeing some positive feedback on here. Would that be OK?

Piccy from the ad...

Welcome to the forum, lovely looking truck. Mine started life all shiny too, theres no panel without a range of scratches and wounds now! Seems the more you try to prevent damage the more likely it is to happen.

As for tyres, theres loads of options. A good value all terrain like General Grabbers will cope with most terrain as will BFG a/ts (£££'s but last for 1000's of miles) and then of course in terms of mud terrain the options are endless. Kumho KL71's seem to get good reviews as a tyre between mud and all terrain.

My experience of the 4x4 "community" is its very friendly, theres never usually a shortage of people to help you out. Get along to your local pay & play day and you'll soon get to know people.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

Hi there and welcome!

You'll get more use out of KL71 tyres rather than KL78. Check out Marshal KL71 as they are the same tyre (just different branding) and often a tad cheaper.
