CCBaxter - yes, it's annoying that I am without a vehicle until the next set of bits arrive, and also that we buy something thinking it is the answer then something happens to change our minds. The bias valve seemed the logical solution until I drove it without applying any brake on the day we were due to fit it. Unfortunately, I don't have the facilities to work on it at home and no-one nearby to help bleed the system afterwards, so I have to use the garage. I've known them for years and trust them, and I think they're clutching at straws to get me mobile rather than doing unnecessary work to get more money.

The flexipipes have arrived and I'm taking it in tomorrow. I might still fit the valve whilst the pipes are off, but I'll definitely look at the other things you and RainerK have suggested. They are convinced the flexipipes will cure it, so much so there is a pork pie riding on it, but I think it will be me that ate all the pie.

Sorry Witzend I missed your earlier reply. I whole heartedly apologise for my forthright assumptions on the ease of diagnosis. Wlthout the facilities it is very difficult to assess any fault. An unfortunate weakness with forum assistance is we don't really know each others cicumstances.
It is possible that someone on this forum lives in you neck of the woods and is able to help. Why not put out a call and see if anyone responds.
Much respect, Chris

I'm quite keen to know if a cure has been found and what it is too!
