Evening...

Doing the sprucing up of the Jimny and I was thinking of changing the gear knob for something with a bit of colour.

That's an accessory for the gen 4... Anything similar for the gen 3 (that isn't 140 pounds   )

I had my eye on this gear knob too. I like the simplicity of it, and just the appearence. Not keen on the stock one.

But i just canny justify its super steep price tag! Its just far to expensive. Shame.

Well, my 2015 Gen3 gear knob is permanently fixed. It does not budge at all.

I spoke to some fellow owners and used spares shops in South Africa and its seem ours are glued on permanently :(

I would expect glue and the thread. Its not easy to get them to start to turn, but once the glue is cracked it goes easy.

The stick is pretty easy to remove from the gearbox, so take it out and hold in a good strong vice. Use large stilsons/pipe wrench to unscrew the old knob or a hacksaw to cut it away and expose the shaft inside.

To remove stick from box:
-remove trim and pull up gaiter around stick. There is also an inner gaiter which has to be pulled up to see where the stick enters the linkage.
-around the stick is a round flat metal surface. This is like a bayonet light bulb connector. Push down and rotate it, the stick will lift up and out easily then.
-There should be a nylon bush on the end of the stick, make sure this is refitted when it goes back in or you will have a sloppy stick.
