Cloudy cluster. was created by Lambert
Grrrrrrrrrr. Mother has just given me Dreadnaught back after she has been running an errand. She has found my industrial hand wipes. She has used them on the dashboard and more importantly on the instrument cluster. It is now cloudy like it's been wire brushed. Tried glass polish, no. Tried soapy water, no. What I had thought was to remove it and machine polish it? Anyone solved something like this?

hot air gun ;-)

if its perspex type material it should be possible to gently heat it to smooth it out a little.

otherwise you could leave it on and set fire to the car, thus also removing the problem?!

Zep wipes are what has been used. It doesn't seem to be scratched, it definitely seems to be more of a residue. Heat does not touch it in amounts I am comfortable applying. It does clear when wetted but drying causes the cloudiness. AG tar remover did improve it marginally. So did a little bit of AG extra gloss protection. I'm wondering if it needs one of those rubber finger da pads to apply friction to remove the residue?

My dash cluster 'glass' which is plastic had stains that were literally etched in to the plastic, i removed the dash cluster and removed the plastic completely.
Then possibly 10-15mins with G10 rubbing compound (any good polish will do, but nothing as aggressive as T-Cut) and the plastic came up crystal clear.

Lambert this works well, dont know if you can get it where you are

www.autosol.com/product_p/1020.htm

There is also the polish that garages use for cleaning the discoloration on plastic head lamps, that will work too.
