I changed my 05 plastic steering wheel to a 2013 Jimny leather steering wheel. direct fit of everything and reused the original airbag.
Leather feels good. Not sure if it is a cow thing or what but it sure made the overall experience of driving the car much better! :)

I have hands like 40 grit sand paper, my leather wheel lasted about 30 months before showing signs of serious wear hence why I para corded it. In the intervening years i have worn the cord smooth and flattened the exposed edge. I suspect I would have totally destroyed the wheel by now without the wrap.
