^^^^^Have to agree fully, it is disgraceful.
I looked at many Jimny's from brand new to 2008 before I purchased ours and all, even the showroom one, had visable surface rust on the underside, as you say "out of view".
Chassis welds rust first, followed by the body at the front, rear and sills. Body rust was random, but all had issues. Compare this to other marquees which for the same age of vehicle exhibit no or very little rust. My sons battered 2007 Corsa has less rust than the new Jimny I looked at.

It would stop me from purchasing a new Jimny, I would rather wait a few years and see how bad its rusted before parting with my cash. Wax treatment for all is a must if you want to keep it.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)
