Looking on the net would put the price between 8.5K to 9.5K from a dealer, but thats a standard car with no modifications. Not sure how much less a private sale would be if any.
Its the modifications that confuse things, do they add value or diminish it....?
Only the potential customer can answer that question. If they want a mud plugger then maybe they do add value. But equally they also highlight a possible tough life off road and may put people off its purchase.
In the end its only worth what someone will pay for it.

Have you tried "we buy any car" for a rough guide?

Again they assume its "standard", but its a starting point.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Yeh thats more the issue, does the modifications add value or not? Its not like it can devalue it, and i know i won't get the £2000-£2500 spent on it back. But surely it must stick a few extra £ on.

I know what i owe on it finance wise, £5300, would be happy to get £7k for it to be honest.

I would say 7k is a fair price
BUT it's still got finance owed so new buyer only has your word that you will pay it up
very grey area when buying

Yeh your right. Id make sure the buyer would be there while paying off the remaning amount, as that's the way id want it to be if buying a car with finance still on too.

Finance companies don't care too much what you do with the item on loan long as you pay them back. Time is eroding the vehicle value more than any modifications, they will still want the outstanding balance even if you cut it up!

I am sure 7K is a good price, even a little cheap for a 2012 plate, so modifications or not it's got to be worth that.

Ask 7.9K allow a bit of give to 7K if you are happy with this.

The outstanding finance is "buyer beware", if you don't clear it the car is still owned by the finance company and they can claim it back from any buyer. Thats why HPI checks etc exist.....
Not suggesting this will happen in any way, just joining in on the finance side of this conversation.

Dunno how this works in Britain, but i bought my VW T5 from the financing company more than from the actual guy who "owned" it.
i called the financing company that owned the loan, and asked how much debt was left on it. Got my bank to call them and give them a guarantee that i would pay it all, went to the seller and gave him about 400£ for a few years old car worth 38000£ (very rough currency calculations).
Paid his loan after i got home.
This way i knew that i could not buy any extra debt.

The guy who sold the car was bummed by not getting any money for it of course, but he signed the papers after some persuasion.

Be aware that Jimnys are going for very strong prices at the moment. I have seen similar go through auction (ie no warranty, no test drive, sold as seen) for £8k and higher. Dealers cannot get used at the moment, now is certainly the time to sell and sell high.

And all you need from the finance is a letter of "no interest". It is up to him to secure that but the way I have found in the past is for the purchase to be split, on the buying day as purchaser, you pay both the seller and the finance company. They then send you the letter of no further interest
