Back in a Jimny after 6 years...

Signed up a while back so thought it about time to start a thread now I'm back in a Jimny.

Had a Jimny about 6 years ago with a few bits done, small lift, 215/75 mud tyres. Had a few cars since (L200, Impreza's etc.) but always fancied a Jimny again. Been on the look out for 01-05 pre vvt with manual transfer box and as little rust as possible.

One thing I've noticed from last time around was how many rusty ones are about since a few years ago. There's a lot of rubbish for sale out there with "tidy solid car" in the advert, only to look at it or check the mot history and see it's a rust bucket barely scraping through mot's.

Took 4 months but managed to find a 53 plate with 59k miles on. 2 previous owners, seems first owner maintained it meticulously, 2nd owner had it for 2 or 3 years and done nothing by looks of it, selling it when it needed a load of work. But, it's rust free, the first one I'd come across that was! Needed brakes looking at (working but pedal nearly on the floor), exhaust blowing, basic service items changing, inside was filthy, tyres nearly bald, rear lights not working at all.

Anyway, will be going a bit further with this one... Decent lift, 30" tyres, winch. Eventually lockers and probably M16 engine swap if I can find one for the right price. Live near Southport so Lake District not too far and spend a fair bit of time in North Wales, so some decent 'laning near by.

Will stick some pics up on a build thread later on B)
