Panhard Rod Strenghening? was created by DanRigg94
Hey guys.
So last weekend playing in the mud I got sent into a pretty nasty ditch and bent my panhard rod to the point it decided to snap on me while driving home. Traumatic experience at 45mph but never the less I survived!
Welded a piece of angle onto it and it seems to be holding in there for now while my new one is on order.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to strengthen the bar in any way? My thought is should I just buy more angle and weld it onto the new one to prevent it happening again? Or is there a better way to help it not bend again in the future?
Any advice would be great.

The problem is that if you make the bar stronger and stronger any excess force it experiences will be transferred into the next weakest link. Given the general lightness of a Jimny that means you will start ripping brackets off the chassis or axle which is definitely a much bigger job to rectify than fitting another bar. Obviously this then leads to an arms race of strengthening and bracing and before you know it you have lost the lightness that makes a Jimny so successful.
