Anything is possible with effort. Primary swap though is to either a g16b or m16a depending on the year as they're essentially a straight swap and give you a sensible increase in performance without becoming too unwieldy.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I'm assuming you have something like this:

Most people on this forum have these:

You might get some info here but likely a better source would be at the Ihatejimnys forum

What would be the appropriate choice for a 2007 Jimny Lambert? g16b or m16a?

Also what are the differences between the two engines.

Sorry if its a dumb question!

I'm not Lambert but I'll have a go anyway...

In a 2007 Jimny you presently have a M13A VVT, which is a straight swap with the M16A VVT.

Where it gets mildly complicated is with the VVT/non-VVT engine codes (one is M16A and other is M16AA, I'm sure someone else will chime in and say which is which, I can't remember off-hand). Luckily most people selling the engines just refer to them as either just "M16A" or "M16A VVT", but if you do any swap always make sure you use the VVT variant.

I think I've almost worn out my V and T keyboard buttons with the above couple paragraphs

Hopefully the link helped BIGBIRD. They do have a lot of experience and good tech with the SJ series on the other forum.

Is it a true straight swap? No alterations or additional/different parts needed to swap from M13a VVT to M16a VVT?

Yes ish. It is in terms of the fitment of the block but not for the ancillary components like water pump and inlet manifolds and throttle bodies. Most of the items are transferred from the m13a but some like the throttle body come from a liana. There's a couple of definitive lists for the swap kicking about here and there. The other thing is the age of the donor engine as later ones from swift sports while more powerful have different sensor trigger patterns that the Jimny ecu can't recognise.
