stay under 56mph helps a lot,

otherwise its as for any other car, gentle acceleration and avoid braking where possible. Check its all up scratch on servicing. does it have aircon? my compressor has just gone and i think thats causing my poor mpg.

I don't know whats normal consumption for a Jimny 2002 if any knows that would help, because i really dont want go have to get rid of it just for poor fuel consumption.

Standard one should be 200+ miles to a tank.

Trouble is sometimes the cost of servicing is more than the saving on fuel.
To the OP..I got about 32mpg in mine.

Slightly better at a true 34 mpg urban to/from work, but I drive it sympathetically. Hopefully this week we will get our first run on a motorway so I can see what I get then. Before I purchased the Jimny I " googled" the real MPG figure which was a reported 35MPG (not 39MPG as given by Suzuki), so my 34MPG seems about correct. I swapped from a VW TDI that averaged 57MPG, so I was aware my fuel costs were going up!!!
That said my " VW in the dealers again for another warning light fix ££££" bills have come way down and I actually enjoy driving the Jimny.
I have a completely standard 2009 M13AA vvt with aircon etc.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

In standard size probly around 28psi. 23/26 front rear is recommended. I run my 215/75/15 at 20 psi.

You can drive them really slowly and get 35mpg and be very bored. Or you can thrash them, get 30mpg and have a bit of fun doing it. The difference is 2.5p per mile, so I do the latter.

I should have added that mine was an auto and you expect fewer mpg. I used to drive it sensibly with most of the driving in urban conditions too. Even if I did a careful motorway run it still returned much the same. I have no idea what a tankful would give in range as I don't work my consumption out that way - I prefer to know the mpg.
