Buying a Jimny-Help was created by Leodhas
Hi guys, just after some opinions
Looking at buying a Suzuki Jimmy (duh) 2005 with 75,000 miles on it.
Still waiting to hear about previous MOT results.
Just wondering what you think would be a pretty average asking price and more importantly how much I can get out of it?
Cheers

I only bought my Jimny 3 weeks ago.
First off make sure you test drive before you commit.
You need a nice tight gear stick that doesn't slop about (can be fixed).
Check for 'death wobble' at around 45mph (again can be fixed).
Lift the boot carpet and look for rust.
Backboxes are prone to rust, but a cheap fix.
I paid over the odds for mine which is an 04reg with 31,500mls and one previous lady owner according to the log book and judging on the condition has hardly been driven in the wet as there is only superficial rusting to the underside.
AND get your head underneath the back end as all the ones i viewed were absolutely rotten with rust.

These are only the views of a new owner, i'm sure there are more qualified owners that can advise you.
I've just been for a blat in mine and those engines are very responsive and they love to sing.
One very satisfied owner.
Dave.
p.s. i paid £4000 (don't laugh).

If you've got the reg number you can check the mot history online here www.check-mot.service.gov.uk

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.
